5 cose da fare a Mykonos

Mykonos è l’isola più mondana delle Cicladi, regno del divertimento sotto le stelle, nota come la “Ibiza della Grecia” si è guadagnata il titolo di esperta di feste ma…

“Non è tutto oro ciò che luccica.”

Non fraintendetemi, ho adorato Mykonos. Ho amato le sue spiagge dorate, le acque cristalline, le romantiche case e gli edifici imbiancati a calce in contrasto con i colori di porte e finestre, però la sensazione che ho avuto scoprendola (sopratutto in alcune zone del centro) è che quest’ultima sia un po’ sopravvalutata.
Non vi dico di non andare. Al contrario Mykonos è indubbiamente bella da vedere per quanto riguarda il suo lato naturalistico, ma sicuramente non è tra le mie preferite di questo island hopping alla scoperta delle Cicladi.

Anche se mi sono persa la scena dei Party e della vita notturna, ho vissuto un’autentica Mykonos, viaggiando in un momento non proprio affollato e la mia conclusione è che si fa un grosso errore a pensare che sia solo l’isola del divertimento, Mykonos è più di una semplice isola delle feste!

In questo articolo voglio condividere con voi le  5 cose da fare a Mykonos.

1. Esplora le sue spiagge

Uno dei tratti distintivi di Mykonos è di sicuro la bellezza delle sue spiagge, per godersi sole e mare è bene andare sul litorale sudorientale, abbastanza protetto dal vento, che offre una sfilza di spiagge bellissime (pensate Mykonos  ha ben 30 spiagge).

Ogni spiaggia di Mykonos è una meraviglia, ovunque voi scegliete di andare, vi sembrerà di stare in paradiso.

Ornos Beach

Se viaggiate in famiglia di sicuro vi consiglio di dirigervi ad Ornos, troverete acqua bassa perfetta per i bambini e tanti bar e ristoranti nelle vicinanze.

Super Paradise- al mattino presto-

Se invece cercate la movida, non potete sbagliare con due party beach per eccellenza, Paradise e Super Paradise, in località Plintri, le feste qui iniziano ogni giorno alle 16:00 e in alta stagione da mezzanotte all’Alba, praticamente è festa tutto il giorno!

Paraga

Se vi piace abbronzarvi integralmente invece nella spiaggia di Paraga potete abbandonare vestiti e costume visto che è la spiaggia preferita dai nudisti.

Psarou Beach

La mia preferita in assoluto invece è Psarou Beach. La spiaggia di Psarou è una delle spiagge più Vip dell’isola di Mykonos (ma sarà che quest’anno siamo stati davvero fortunati a viaggiare in una Mykonos quasi vuota, abbiamo trovato una Psarou semideserta come tutte le spiagge del resto quasi vuote fino alle 15 almeno)!

Si trova a 5 km dal centro di Mykonos ed è veramente pazzesca!! Sabbia fine e chiara e un mare dalle mille gradazioni di azzuro. Come  tutte le spiagge di Mykonos anche questa si divide in una zona attrezzata e una libera!

La prima con diversi lidi (beach club) dove poter mangiare, ascoltare musica e noleggiare lettini, la seconda invece  libera.

2. Esplora la città di Mykonos.

Conosciuta come Chora (che significa ‘città principale’) dalla gente del posto, la città di Mykonos merita di essere esplorata passeggiando senza meta. Ha un’opportunità fotografica ad ogni angolo.

Qui, le case cubiche imbiancate a calce contrastano con porte e finestre in legno dipinte con colori vivaci per creare i contrasti semplici ma sorprendenti.

Aspettatevi di veder spuntare bouganville pastello, minuscole chiese dai tetti colorati( quasi tutte private, a quanto pare avere una cappella di proprietà è uno status symbol qui), negozi eleganti e ristoranti e bar che fiancheggiano il labirinto della città con le viuzze bianche.

3. Scatta una foto dei famosi mulini a vento.

Sul promontorio di Kato Mili questi mulini sono  un punto di riferimento a Mykonos e ne testimoniano il suo passato rurale. Ne troverere sette nella Chora: furono costruiti dai veneziani nel XVI secolo e originariamente erano utilizzati per macinare il grano che serviva a sfamare la popolazione. Sebbene non funzionino più, le loro facciate sono state preservate per molti secoli, e vale la pena farci un salto (se riuscite meglio al tramonto).

4.Passeggia per la Little Venice.

Non lontano dai mulini a vento sopra menzionati, troverete Little Venice, una zona pittoresca sul lungomare, piena di bar, ristoranti e caffè, (che la rendono davvero troppo turistica per i miei gusti) , anche se non è stata tra le mie zone preferite merita una visita.

Per coloro che si chiedono come sia nata, la storia di Little Venice è davvero antica; fu costruita nel XVI secolo per comodità, i pirati allora erano una vera minaccia, fu così che i residenti costruirono balconi a strapiombo sull’acqua per caricare rapidamente le merci su e giù dalle navi e far si che queste non venissero rubate.

5. Perditi alla scoperta dell’Isola 

Se volete vivere in pieno l’autenticità dell’Isola di Mykonosnon  non vi resta che uscire al mattino presto quando i raggi del sole fortissimi, il bianco della sua architettura, le case incastrate come puzzle e il silenzio vi accoglieranno insieme alla vita che riprende lentamente.

 Il mattino porta con sé  l’odore dei  forni,  un’inizio di quotidianità con i cafè che servono le  prime colazioni  accompagnate da bicchieri di caffè freddo o nero.

Insomma nonostante alcune delle sue zone mi hanno un po’ delusa Mykonos è stato per me un posto di pace. Per quanto sia un’isola conosciuta per la vita notturna, ha un lato  tranquillo (basta andarlo a cercare), e, mi è piaciuto molto perdermi tra le sue strade(e non parlo solo di quelle della Chora)con lunghe camminate, è una delle cose che più ho amato fare e, ogni volta, dopo ogni angolo ho avuto la sensazione che ci fosse un angolo ancora  più bello o un’ altra spiaggia dalle acque più cristalline ad aspettarmi.

Come muoversi a Mykonos

Un servizio di bus (www.mykonosbus.com) da Mykonos Town porta all’ aeroporto, alle spiagge principali e ad Ano Mera: biglietti da 1,80 euro.  Il servizio di barche (Taxi Boat) parte dal molo di Platis Gialos, 5km a sud della Chora: ferma in diverse spiagge della costa est e fa capolinea a Elia (https://www.e-mykonos.gr/en/water-taxis/) Se siete temerari come noi potete arrivare fin dove vi portano i vostri piedi. Ma per ottimizzare i tempi potete noleggiare un’ auto, un quad o un motorino, i prezzi partono da 25 euro al giorno.

    Mykonos è bella, ma tra tutte le isole visitate in Grecia è stata quella che mi è piaciuta meno. Troppo cara e troppo chic per i miei gusti. Preferisco luoghi meno affollati e più autentici… anche se le tue foto sono stupende!

      Mi sa che ho avuto la “fortuna” di vederla in un periodo differente, causa covid. Certo se ti fermi li e vedi solo Mykonos ti sembra pure bella ma quando inizi ad andare nelle altre non c’è storia, una cosa che mi è piaciuta molto di sicuro è il suo mare.

        Sulle isole greche non sono mai stata, ma ho sempre considerato Mykonos una must see. Sarà meno autentica e più turistica delle altre, ma dalle tue foto sembra comunque bellissima!

    Non sapevo ci fossero i mulini a vento a Mykonos! Io non sono mai stata in Grecia, ma credo che Mykonos sia un ottimo punto di partenza per un primo viaggio lì. Il problema (se così si può definire) è che con quel mare e quelle bellissime casette bianche rischierei di fare migliaia di foto!

    Mykonos manca alla nostra lista… Visitare Little Venice o rilassarci in una delle sue meravigliose spiagge è un’esperienza che speriamo di riuscire a fare prossimamente!

    Alessio ha tanti pregiudizi su Mykonos (e Santorini), invece a me incuriosisce. Sicuramente questo era il periodo giusto per (ri)scoprire la sua anima più autentica. E poi per me le Cicladi sono sempre una garanzia.

    Sono stata a Mykonos qualche anno fa durante uno scalo in crociera; non è che mi abbia conquistata come è successo per altre isole. L’ho trovata troppo turistica e caotica. ma magari, con una visita più approfondita, potrei anche cambiare idea!

    So che Mykonos è di solito molto affollata e dedita alla vita notturna, per questo mi sa che quest’anno te la sei proprio goduta a pieno, ho viste le foto e l’acqua è qualcosa id incredibile!
    Io mi sarei sbizzarrita con le foto, cmq vorrei vederle tutte le isole greche, secondo me sono affascinanti e magiche a modo loro!

    Non sono mai stata a Mykonos, ma ho sempre voluto andarci. Mi piacerebbe tantissimo organizzare un viaggio in giro per le Cicladi.
    Alcuni anni fa sono stata ad Hydra che mi ha stregata, da allora cerco di tornare in Grecia…Purtroppo quest’anno sembrava essere l’anno giusto, ma ho dovuto rinviare.

    Mykonos è bellissima, ha spiagge incantevoli e scorci suggestivi, ma anche tanta tanta tanta gente. Quest’anno forse era l’anno perfetto per godersi l’isola come in mesi di bassa stagione. Dopo agosto ho rivisto Mykonos in ottobre e tutto era incredibilmente diverso. Le Cicladi sono un incanto e proprio per evitare il caos quest’anno ho deciso di visitare una sorella minore di Mykonos, Paros, che era deserta e tranquilla.

    Mai stata a Mykonos finora e neanche io sono amante dei party e serate in discoteca. Mi perderei volentieri tra i vicoli, salirei fino ai punti più alti dell’isola per vederne i tetti e apprezzarne ancora di più la bellezza. Mi hai fatto però scoprire Little Venice che non sapevo esistesse anche qui.

    Mykonos non la conosco ma sono affascinata dai suoi mulini (adoro i mulini) e ovviamente dai caratteristici paesini bianchi e blu che tanto mi fanno sognare quando visito un’isola greca. Questa la dovrò sicuramente scoprire prima o poi.

    Mikonos mi manca, per ora ho dato la precedenza ad altre isole greche… A bloccarmi un po’, forse, è la sua fama mondana! Ma vedo che offre tantissimo altro, e mi piacerebbe molto visitarla, magari fuori stagione. Le tue foto mettono in risalto la bellezza del suo mare e i suoi brillanti colori 🙂

    Io e mio marito abbiamo adorato Mykonos, riparliamo spesso del suo centro pieno di vita e degli ottimi ristoranti e anche noi l’abbiamo trovata un’isola assolutamente vivibile nonostante sia famosa principalmente per la movida.
